Hand Puppet Menagerie

I'm so glad that the Hand Puppet Menagerie pattern is finally finished! It's been in the works a long time and I'm really pleased with the final result. Part of the reason it took so long is that I wanted to provide knitters with lots of options for making different animals. There could be many more, but I narrowed it down to four sets of five puppets:

Farm Animals- chicken, cow, horse, pig, sheep
Pets- bunny, cat, dog, frog, parrot
Safari- elephant, giraffe, lion, monkey, zebra
Woodland- bear, deer, fox, owl, raccoon

The pattern is set up with directions for multiple options for the arms, ears, muzzle, tail and extras. The body is the same for all animals. A table provides the information about which pieces and colors to use in order to make each animal shown. The knitter can also choose which pieces to make and colors to use, leaving lots of room for customizing and creating other animals.

Knit one or two, a set of five or knit the whole menagerie!

  1. Menagerie looks great! Any idea how much yarn is needed for the body vs the head and hands?
(Trying to use up left over yarn)
    Thanks

    1. Thanks so much! I haven't figured out yarn amounts for the individual parts, but the main puppet takes less than 50 grams (110 yards) of yarn. The arms, snouts, ears, etc. are all pretty small and use a lot less than that. Left over yarn would be great for those pieces, but I would make sure to have at least 50 grams of the main color.

      Happy knitting!
